The Arizona Military Museum was established in 1981 in the original log building built in 1936 as a National Guard arsenal.
During World War II, it was turned into a workshop for German prisoners of war. The museum is currently operated by the Arizona National Guard Historical Society, a non-profit corporation. It features a chronological overview of Arizona-related military activities, beginning with the Spanish conquistadors and continuing with operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
There is also a military library with books, documents and maps of military operations around the world. Open Tuesday through Saturday most of the year, admission to the museum is free, but donations are encouraged and appreciated.
The post was established in 1877 and was once the headquarters of the army's four black regiments. Aircraft such as the Grumman OV-1C Mohawk and the Beech RC-12D Super King Air are on display and are still a workhorse for the Army.

We have visited many aviation museums and this one has a lot to offer. This is a self-guided tour with docents to help and discuss the various aircraft. It is also equipped with videos, displays and images to support the collection and history.

There are several aircraft on the tarmac, the main hangar and the maintenance hangar. Allow at least a few hours. Worth a visit. This place is great value for the money we paid. Lots of historical exhibits and old air facts.
The exhibit includes old artifacts from World War II and the Vietnam War, from scale models of various aircraft to ready-to-fly aircraft. The exhibition is available both inside and outside. Many volunteers will answer your questions.
